The creation of Proxy Pools, Backup Repositories and the Organization are the next steps required to configure Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.
Since the Backup Repositories in this example are configured in Wasabi Cloud Storage, make sure the appropriate Buckets are created accordingly.
To complete the configuration, login to the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365's console. Click Connect.

Create Backup Proxy Pools
Another feature offered by the new version is the Backup Proxy Pools used to distribute the load across the available Backup Proxies.
You need two or more Backup Proxies (a mix of Windows and Linux Proxies is supported) to leverage Backup Proxy Pools capability and they can be assigned to Object Storage repositories only.
Access the Backup Proxy Pools section and click Add Proxy Pool.
Enter a Name for the pool and click Next.
Click Add to specify Backup Proxies to add to the pool.
Select the Backup Proxies to use (up to 150) and click Add.
Click Finish to create the new Backup Proxy Pool.
The Backup Proxy Pool has been configured successfully.
Create a Backup Repository with Immutability
In Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 version 7 the immutability was supported for Backup Copies only. In version 8 this capability has been extended also to primary backups where data immutability can be applied to any supported object storage (Azure Blob Storage, Amazon S3, IBM Cloud Object Storage, or S3-compatible storage).
From Backup Infrastructure area, select Backup Repositories and right click anywhere in the right pane. Select Add backup repository.
Enter a Name for the repository to configure and optionally a Description. Click Next.
Select Backup to object store and click Next.
In this example, Wasabi is the storage type used. Select Wasabi Cloud Storage and click Next.
Specify the Data center region as well as the credentials to use. Click Next.
Select the Bucket to use and click Browse to specify the Folder. Click New folder to create a new one then click OK to save the configuration.
Click Next.
Click Select and select Proxy pool to specify the pool to use.
Select the previously created Proxy Pool and click OK.
Click Next.
Define the desired Retention policy. Click Next.
Enable the Make backups immutable option to protect backups against deletion, changes and overwriting. Click OK to close the warning window.
By default, the immutability is applied for the entire retention policy. To specify a different retention, click For the duration of the retention policy link and configure the desired immutability. Click OK when done.
Enable Encrypt backups stored in this repository and select the Password to use. Click Finish to create the Backup Repository.
