Veeam Backup for Office 365 4.0 is the latest version of the backup solution by Veeam to protect Office 365 mailboxes, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.
Because by contract Microsoft must garantee the Office 365 infrastructure availability only and not the stored data, organizations must protect their Office 365 environments to ensure data integrity and protection.

What's new in Veeam Backup for Office 365 v4.0
Version 4.0 provides some new features that extend the product capabilities:
Direct backup to Object Storage
Backups can now be saved directly to an Object Storage, such as AWS S3, Azure Blob, IBM Cloud and S3-compatible providers.
Encrypted backups
Data stored in the cloud can be protected with AES 256-bit encryption and encryption keys are managed by the new Password Manager feature.
Improved backup performance
Faster backup performance for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business data.
Improved reporting
Improved reporting with protection statistics for Office 365 Group, Public, Shared and Resource mailboxes.
Calendars and Contacts exclusion
Calendars and Contacts can now be excluded from the general retention policy.
Cloud credentials manager
Added the Manage cloud credentials section to manage credentials used for Object Storage accesses.
Licensing
Currently Veeam Backup for Office 365 v4.0 still uses the existing subscription licenses since the new VUL license model is not yet supported.
Install Veeam Backup for Office 365 v4.0
Download latest Backup for Office 365 4.0 from Veeam website and run the installer. Click Next to start the installation.
Accept the EULA and click Next.
Select Program features to install and click Next.
Click Install to proceed with the installation.
The software is being installed.
When the installation has completed, click Finish to exit the wizard.
When you access the Dashboard for the first time, you are prompted to install the licence. Click Yes to install a purchased license. If no license is installed, the product can protect up to 10 users (Community Edition).
Click Install and select the license file downloaded from Veeam website.
Once the license has been installed click OK.
