Veeam Recovery Orchestrator (VRO) uses Recovery Locations to create resource groups used as target locations when orchestrating recovery.
There are three Recovering Locations supported by VRO:
- VMware Recovery
- Storage Recovery
- Microsoft Azure Recovery

Create Recovery Locations
Login to Veeam Recovery Orchestrator console and go to Administration area.
Access the Recovery Locations section and click Add to add a Location.
Recover from backup
Select VMware and click Next.
Type a Name for the location and optionally a Description. Click Next.
In the Recovery Options select Recover VM backups to recover the VMs from backups. Click Next.
Select the Compute Group to use identified by the tag assigned to the Hosts in the vCenter Server (DR Site) then click Add.
The selected resource has been assigned to the Compute Groups. Click Next.
Do the same with Storage Resources and click Next.
Select Use backup copies in the Storage Options to take benefit of backup copies when recovering VMs. Backup Copies work only if created and used by the same Veeam VBR. Click Next.
In VM Networks section click Add to define a new network mapping. Specify both Source and Target vSphere network and click Save.
In Re-IP Rules section click Add to define a new IP remapping. Specify IP Address and Subnet Mask of Source and Target VM as well as Default gateway and DNS server. Click Add.
Select Enforce data sovereignty option if required and click Next.
Click Finish to save the configuration.
The created VMs Backup Recovery location.
Instant VM Recovery
Follow the same procedure as done in previous steps.
Type a Name for the location and optionally a Description. Click Next.
In the Recovery Options select Recover VM backups and Enable Instant VM Recovery. Click Next and configure the remaining settings.
The created VMs Instant Recovery location.
Agent Backup Recovery
Again, follow the same above procedure to add a new location.
Type a Name for the location and optionally a Description. Click Next.
In the Recovery Options select Recover agent backups to recover the VMs from Veeam Agent backups. Click Next and configure the remaining steps.
Configure the correct Agent Networks and click Next.
The created Agent Instant Recovery location.
Once the Recovery Locations have been created, next step is the creation of Recovery Plans covered in part 4.
