Vembu released the new BDR Suite 3.9.0, a backup and disaster recovery solution for VMware and Hyper-V that now includes tape support and flexible restores.
Vembu BDR Suite 3.9.0 supports VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environments as well as physical Windows Servers and Workstations, offering data protection based on proprietary file-system VembuHIVE easing the backup process, storage management at an extremely affordable pricing.
The new release introduces some new features enhancing the product functionality.
Tape backup support
The new release introduces the support for native tape backup for image-based backups (VMware, Hyper-V, and physical Windows Servers and Workstations) providing an option for long-term archival and Offsite storage.
Quick VM Recovery on ESXi host
Instant Recovery process is now simpler and quicker making the Quick VM Recovery possible on VMware ESXi from Vembu BDR Backup Server console for all image-based backups (VMware, Hyper-V and Microsoft Windows). RTO has been improved providing a quicker data regain and access.
Data can now be encrypted while creating a backup job. Users can now password protect the backup jobs enabling additional security. Backup data can be restored and accessed only by providing the correct password. Data is encrypted and only authorized users can access it.
Auto Authorization at Vembu OffsiteDR Server
Now only registered BDR Backup Servers can connect the OffsiteDR Server through the Auto Authorization feature at Vembu OffsiteDR Server increasing data security. Vembu BDR Servers are authorized through unique registration key generated at the OffsiteDR Server.
Pre/Post backup scripts
A dedicated wizard in NetworkBackup, OnlineBackup and ImageBackup clients allows the administrators to add a number of pre and post executable commands/scripts simplifying the execution of specific operations. Commands and scripts can be added at specific stages based on the configuration and provide the ability to run custom actions before/after the backup schedules.
Update Vembu BDR suite
From Vembu website download the new release and save it to the Vembu server.
Double click the .EXE file to run the installer wizard. Click Next to begin the update.
Accept the EULA and click Next.
The system detects a previous version installed. Select Upgrade Now to update Vembu BDR suite and click Next.
Click Yes to continue.
Click Install to proceed with the update.
The upgrade procedure begins.
The upgrade is being installed in the system.
When the upgrade has completed, leave the options enabled and click Finish to start the Vembu BDR Server and access the Web Console.
Enter the correct credentials and click Sign in.
The upgrade procedure has been completed successfully.
A Vembu BDR Suite free edition is also available and suitable for production environments with some restrictions.
