This release candidate of BDRSuite v7.0 is not compatible with existing installations and the in-place upgrade is not recommended. Use this release for fresh installation only.
What's new in Vembu BDRSuite v7.0
The new Vembu BDRSuite v7.0 will provide the data protection feature for the following environments:
- Microsoft Azure
- Amazon AWS
- KVM
Azure Backup and Recovery
In BDRSuite v7.0, backup and recovery operations for Azure can be easily created and managed from a single pane of glass through the management console with comprehensive reporting and email notifications to keep backup and recovery tasks under control.
Key features
Backup
- Agentless - the new version provides the capability of backing up Azure workloads with no need for additional agents on the VMs by leveraging Azure's native API and snapshots. Backups can be stored in a local storage or in cloud.
- Backup - the backup includes the first Full then Incremental backups. The number of snapshots created during the backup operation can be retained for the desired retention time.
- App-aware - Vembu supports the Microsoft VSS technology to keep supported apps consistent during the backup process for Windows VMs. If the VM is Linux-based, a Pre/Post script can be used instead.
- Storage - local disk, NAS, SAN, S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud, Wasabi, etc. are the supported options to store the backups.
- Disks - both managed and unmanaged disks in Azure VMs are supported.
- Schedule - RPO can be set from 15 mins up to hours, days, weeks, and more.
Recovery
- Volume - a specific volume can be restored from backup.
- VMs/Disks - VMs and disks backups can be downloaded in different formats (VHD, VHDX, VMDK, Flat-VMDK and RAW). This feature is very useful for VMs migration purposes.
- FLR - BDRSuite v7.0 supports FLR recovery using the Disk Mount option.
- Subscription - backups can be restored within your account in the same region regardless of the subscription applied.
