Veeam released the new Veeam v12.1 update that provides some enhancements and the resolution of some reported issues.
The update is available to download on the Veeam website and can be installed in Veeam Backup & Replication in two ways:
- Updater - if Veeam v12.1 (build 12.1.0.2131) is already installed in your infrastructure, download the updater file and run the update.
- ISO - if you are running Veeam Backup & Replication 10a (build 10.0.1.4854) and above, download the ISO file and run the installer.
After applying the Veeam v12 update, the new build number will be 12.1.1.56.
Veeam v12.1 update enhancements
The new update introduces some enhancements mainly focused in improving the malware detection feature.
Malware detection
- From the event properties is now possible to exclude extensions that caused false-positive malware detection events.
- A dedicated log file for each bulk file modification event is now available for malware detection based on file system activity analysis that help to identify removed or renamed files.
- The location of the corresponding log file is now displayed directly in the session logs and the event details.
- To ensure the correct syntax is used when excluding extensions, the inline search capability in the monitored malware extensions management has been updated.
Hardened Repository
The update process for the Hardened Repository no longer requires SSH enabled and providing SSH credentials.
PuTTY
The tool PuTTY has been updated to version 0.80.

Reported issues have been resolved in the following areas:
- Backup
- CDP
- Object Storage
- SureBackup
- Tape
