Nakivo released the new Nakivo Backup & Replication v10.9 providing new features such as Bare-Metal Recovery and Backup Malware scan.
Version 10.9 provides several enhancements and new features that make Nakivo Backup & Replication a valid tool to protect your virtual and physical infrastructures.
Nakivo v10.9 what's new
The new version 10.9 provides the following main features:
vSphere 8 Update 1 support
The new version supports VMware vSphere 8.0 Update 1 providing protection for VMs running in the latest ESXi.
Debian OS support
Nakivo v10.9 can now be installed on Debian operating system and supports the protection (app-aware, incremental backups) for physical Debian-based machines running version 10.1 up to 11.5.
Bare-Metal Recovery
Physical Servers can now be recovered faster from backups to the same or other identical hardware. The new Bare-Metal Recovery feature allows to reduce the downtime with minimal service disruption.
- Physical servers can be restored to the same or identical hardware.
- No need to reinstall OS and software.
- System can be backed up to Backblaze B2.
- In case of deletion or undesired changes you can roll back to previous state.
To create the bootable media, go to Jobs tab and select Recover > Bootable media.
Backup Malware Scan
Backups can now be scanned against malware or ransomware infection before recovery ensuring maximum protection. To detect possible infection, supported anti-malware solutions can be integrated with Nakivo Backup & Replication.
- Scan backups before restore.
- Meet strict security requirements.
- Supported anti-malware solution: Microsoft Windows Defender, ESET NOD32 Antivirus, Kaspersky Internet Security, Sophos Intercept X, Clam AV, Sophos Protection.
Backup to Backblaze B2.
To add a supported scan server, go to Inventory tab and select Settings (...) > Scan Servers.
Direct Recovery From Tape
Virtual machines and EC2 instance can now be restored directly to your infrastructure from backups stored on tape media without the need for a staging repository. The new feature supports VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, and Amazon EC2 platforms.
Using the physical-to-virtual (P2V) recovery capability, Windows and Linux physical machines can be restored as VMware VMs from backups stored on tape.
External database for Multi-Tenant deployments
The internal Nakivo database can now be moved to an external database (existing PostgreSQL database or a new one) to better support large environments. Version 9 adds the support for multi-tenant environments.
