Support for Hyper-V
This is the main new feature of this release: the support for Microsoft Hyper-V 2016 and 2012. The Hyper-V capability uses the same easy and clean web interface that drives the user during the backup configuration.
Nakivo 7 provides image-based, application-aware, and forever-incremental Hyper-V backup. Backups are automatically compressed and deduplicated to save space in the backup repositories and backup copies can be sent offsite to AWS and Azure clouds.
You can instantly recover files, Exchange objects, and Active Directory objects directly from compressed and deduplicated Hyper-V backups.
Additional features:
- Agentless, image-based backup of live Hyper-V VMs
- Up to 1,000 GFS recovery points per VM backup
- Full VM recovery to the same or a new host
- Automated backup verification
- Support for Hyper-V Cluster Shared Volumes
Create a Hyper-V backup job
Before creating a backup job, the host has to be added to the Inventory first. From Nakivo Dashboard click on settings icon.
Go to Inventory tab and click on Add New... button then select Micorsoft Hyper-V host option.
Enter the required information then click Add.
The Hyper-V host has been added successfully.
To configure the backup job, from the Dashboard menu select Create > Microsoft Hyper-V backup job.

After specifying the Destination, Schedule and Retention, enter the Job name. To use the Change tracking functionality in Hyper-V, Nakivo uses a proprietary driver. From the drop-down menu select Use proprietary method option and click Finish to save the job setup.
The backup job is executed in the same way as VMware backup jobs do.
The Hyper-V backup has been completed successfully.
