The upcoming Nakivo Backup & Replication v10.6 will introduce new features such as the new NAS Backup and the external database for the Nakivo configuration DB.
Nakivo made another step forward in the development of this backup solution placing the product as one of the most functional alternatives for data protection and availability.
What's new in Nakivo v10.6
The new Nakivo Backup & Replication v10.6 provides the long-awaited NAS backup capability to protect file shares using the CIFS/NFS protocols. The option to place the Nakivo DB configuration to an external database is another cool feature available in this new version.
NAS Backup
Version 10.6 provides now the capability to backup and restore file shares or specific folders on NAS devices using the NFS and SMB (CIFS) protocols as well as Windows and Linux file servers.
To backup file shares, you need to add the NAS protocol type used to the Nakivo Inventory. From the Inventory section, click File Share from the list then click Next.
Enter the required parameters by specifying the Connection type (NFS or CIFS) then click Finish.
The NAS added to the Nakivo Inventory.
To perform the backup click Create and select File Share backup job.
Microsoft 365 Groups Backup
After introducing Microsoft 365 backup in version 9.2, the new release provides the capability to protect also Microsoft 365 groups. With Nakivo is now possible to backup and restore group mailboxes (including mail, files, and OneNote items) and group sites (including document libraries, lists, and subsites).
External database for Nakivo Backup & Replication
The configuration DB of Nakivo can now be deployed to an external PostgreSQL database to avoid corruption or overload risks of the built-in database.
To move the Nakivo configuration DB to a supported PostgreSQL database, go to Settings > Database Options. From the Type drop-down menu select PostgreSQL.
Enter the parameters required to connect your PostgreSQL server and click Test Connection to verify the correct connection. Once the connection has verified, click Apply to enable the external configuration DB.
Hardened AMI
To protect backup data against ransomware and accidental deletion, the Hardened AMI based on Ubuntu Server running in AWS provides an efficient way to protect your business.
Backup from Nimble Storage snapshots
Introduced in version 10.6 the support for Nimble Storage snapshots. VMs stored on a Nimble storage device can be backed up from storage snapshots instead of regular VM snapshots improving performance with a lower impact on production.
The GA version of Nakivo Backup & Replication 10.6 will be available to download at the end of April or beginning of May as 30-day trial.
