How Fleet Manager Works
To leverage Fleet Manager, you must complete three main operations:
Organization onboarding - Before adding clusters, you must complete the one-time organization onboarding. This step secures your organizational scope, setting up the necessary authentication boundaries and RBAC isolation for multi-tenant environments.
Cluster onboarding - Connecting individual appliances or clusters to Fleet Manager requires cluster onboarding. Initiated directly from the cluster’s web interface, this process is a mandatory prerequisite for enabling delegation.
Cluster delegation - Enables organizations to grant operational visibility to external partners, like service providers, without transferring ownership. This revocable, one-to-one management model seamlessly supports co-managed IT, MSP/VCSP environments, and distributed IT workflows.
Ootbi Cluster Manager vs Fleet Manager
Previously, the management of Ootbi appliances was delegated to the Ootbi Cluster Manager but limited to a single cluster.
With Fleet Manager, appliance management is significantly enhanced. It centralizes the administration of all deployed clusters, providing a global view of the entire Object First deployment and allowing you to securely delegate access to team members or clients.
